We had a relay team for 4 x 100M Open, we decided to go against  the best of the best , our relay team won a bronze medal in the open race, mighty effort by 4 brave soles with half broken and sore bodies after three days of competition trying to outrun athletes in their peak performance, we managed to pull out a bronze medal performance.

Luke Mayo took the start, Mark Walker (recruited from our parent pool of athletes who is engaged in our "Community Athletics Program " on Sundays) ran the second phase of the race, Peter Archer took the Baton from Mark for the third hundred and gave it to Priya Wickremasena for the final home run, It was a photo finish for third place.

A very big thanks to NT Athletics for organising this event to international standards (IAAF), the opening ceremony was excellent, we had a number of interstate athletes and also overseas (France) athletes participating in the event.  Also a very big thanks to Anita Wickremasena who has been in poor health but still worked very hard as the alternate  team manager for the team and  stepped in to work as a volunteer and officiated the events and did an excellent  job as the team photographer..

End of Athletic Season 2015 Participation Certificate - All the club members should have received the participation certificate by ow - if you did not receive the certificate please let us  know.
Palmerston Athletic Club in 1881- Please read  below

Did you know during 1881 in Palmerston Northern Territory there was an Athletic Club called “Palmerston Athletic Club”.

We are not sure how or when the historical PAC was founded and also how long they have operated.

In the Saturday 5th of March 1881 the issue of the Northern Territory Times and Gazette there was a classified advertisement from the Palmerston Athletic Club stipulating of their upcoming athletic tournament on the 12th of March 1881.

See the above which was an extract of that classified advertisement from the newspaper. Also see the full page of the newspaper below where this advertisement had appeared which gives an indication of the life in 1881, Particularly what was happening in the society at that time.

Interestingly the article refers to the Palmerston Oval where the tournament was held ,We are not sure if we still can find any reference to where the Palmerston Oval was, in Modern times.

It is a privilege to be part of the Modern PAC when you realize historically over 134 years ago someone in Palmerston NT had done exactly what we did for the purpose of Athletics and have used the exact same name as we did.
